Blue Locusts

Blue Locusts

Blue Locusts, my first book, has hit the streets and is selling well.
This anthology contains 8 short stories, 20 non-fiction articles (true stuff), 5 essays, and 7 poems. The 8 fictional short stories cover the following subjects:
A Georgia farm family faces Sherman's "March to the Sea."
A couple living in the north Georgia mountains fights the U. S. Forest Service to stop tree harvesting.
Small Georgia town researches the source of four "Napoleon" canons on their town square.
Jack the Yak (buys a kayak) is a short story for kids.
Return to Chickamauga recounts a Confederate colonel's return to the battlefield where he lost an arm.
Red '40 Ford Coupe is an exercise in dialogue, as a kid bums a ride in a restored 1940 Ford.
Injun John, a Cherokee warns a Georgia farmer about the impending invasion.
Whited Sepulchres, first few chapters of a yet-to-be-finished murder mystery which takes place in a Georgia mountain town, includes a liquor still and a murder in a church basement.

Non-Fiction
The 20 true stories include the following:
The Drowning Bear Mystery- an Indian disappears from his farm.
Gunfights in the Old ATL- the streets of early Atlanta were as unsafe as a wild-west town.
11,000 Killed and Wounded In My Back Yard- account of a major Civil War battle where the author once lived.
They Were Here First-the Cherokees in north Georgia.
Three more articles dealing with the re-distribution of land from Cherokee's and Creek's to white settlers.

Essays

Significant Transactions- the author's 55 years in the commercial real estate business in Atlanta.
Take a Hike- Great places to hike in Georgia and Washington state, and how to get the most out of your time on the trail.
